Dashboard and consumer-side observability matters because data systems are only successful when consumers can actually trust and use the outputs. A pipeline may run, tables may refresh, and quality checks may pass, yet a dashboard may still mislead because refresh metadata is missing, semantic assumptions diverged, or one consumer layer silently cached or transformed the wrong thing.
This means observability has to extend beyond production of data into consumption of data. Teams need to know:

What to notice:
Teams often stop observability at the data warehouse boundary. That is too early. A trustworthy data system also makes downstream consumption observable. Otherwise incidents remain internal until someone notices a broken chart in a meeting or a model drifts in production with no clear warning.
